Body Talk

An important foundation in Core Energetics is that our bodies are sculpted by our experiences. Of course, genetics plays a role. However, the way we hold our energy is a function of chronic muscle contraction habits. These habits are often defensive patterns, ways in which we prevent the flow of feelings. So take a few moments and let your body speak to you.

Try this exercise:

1. Sit with your spine erect.

2. Relax into the position as much as you can.

3. Allow your eyes to close and begin to notice your breath.

4. Notice where your breath goes easily and where your body resists receiving your breath.

5. Become aware of your body.

6. Notice the first place that gets your attention, especially if your attention includes a judgment.

7. Place your hands on this part of your body.

8. Allow your breath to go to this part.

9.Remain with your attention on this part for a few minutes.

10. Be open to what this part might want to reveal to you about its formation and reason for being; about the feelings that are there.

11. When you feel complete with that, talk back to this part.

12. Tell it, "I love and accept and support you, fully." Repeat this many times until you experience a shift.

13. Set an intention to honor your body for carrying your spirit, today.

14. Throughout the day, when you notice this part, repeat the statement: "I love and accept and support you, fully."
