We may avoid deep connection with ourselves or with Spirit, if we feel unworthy.  What makes us feel unworthy?  Our past deeds that are not in alignment with our idealized self image?  Sins are the things we do and thoughts we think that separate us from our connection with self, others, and Spirit.  If we are in the moment using a "separating instance" from the past to separate ourselves now, then we are creating a new separating instance.  We can make a choice to be in connection.  We can see that sins are simply separating instances not severance!  When we see it this way, we can choose to be in connection, now and release the past. 
Let's look at this through a Core Energetics lens.  Seperation is the activity of the Lower Self.  Connection is the activity of the Higher Self.  Self judgemnet and criticism are the activities of the Mask in service of the Lower Self.  The Higher Self is always loving, forgiving, and moves toward connection.  What is your choice today?  If you are seeing yourself as unworthy, challenge it and move toward connection.
